A world-renowned travel expert, agent, and logistics specialist, Gennady Podolsky has made a career out of helping people to fulfill their dreams. Podolsky is one of the innovators who helped fuel the transition toward tech-first booking services, and he continues to help inspire his clients and colleagues to continue in their journeys.
After attending Swarthmore College, Podolsky would launch his inaugural exploration of the travel industry. Years later, Podolsky continues leading the way by finding the proper balance between technology and his personal experiences.
How Gennady Podolsky Stays Disciplined
Working as a travel writer and travel agent, Gennady Podolsky is entirely in charge of how he approaches his daily activities. With that being said, Podolsky understands that clients will always come first – especially when they are enjoying a trip he helped plan for them.
Starting his day, Podolsky tackles the issues that manifest overnight with his clients. Podolsky focuses on addressing any emergencies or travel disruptions so that the needs of his clients are met.
Podolsky says, “I have to remain flexible and be immediately available to assist clients promptly.”
Throughout his day, Gennady Podolsky likes to stay informed by listening to podcasts and reading the latest innovations in the scientific field. Podolsky has always believed in technology, and these forays continue to encourage his work.
Podolsky says of his fascination with podcasts and science topics, “I am a big believer in technology and science and its potential to make our lives better, more streamlined, and generally more positive.”
The Power of Teamwork in the Office
While maintaining his focus on work, Gennady Podolsky likes to delegate the tasks that best suit his colleagues. Podolsky says, “I focus on my strengths and delegate the rest to be most productive. I also help people around me to do the same.”
Helping his teammates to find the role that best suits them can be a fantastic way to help everyone improve. Podolsky says, “This creates the right environment, where everyone is where they want to be and is doing what they love.”
If he has problems finding motivation or inspiration, Podolsky is fearless in walking away from the office for a while. Podolsky says, “I go where my sense of wonder takes me. My focus and inspiration will return when the time is right.”
Ultimately, Podolsky says, he is guided by the works of Suze Orman. Podolsky stated, “People first, then money, then things. When people feel you treat them how you want them, they respond kindly.”
